Local History: This development was built c. 1999 on the site of the old Annsfield House in Athlone. History has it that in 1825 Arthur Robinson (a Brewer from Athlone) leased the old house from a Joseph Sproule and used it as a brewery. The property is said to have consisted of a dwelling-house, offices and gardens on a four-acre plot with. In 1848 Arthur Robinson assigned his leasehold interest in Annsfield House to his son, Arthur Jnr, who continued to operate a brewing business form there until the mid-1850s.
Annsfield house was demolished in the late 1990s to make way for the Annsfield Wood housing Development.
